The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) has awarded $946K in Transportation Alternatives Set Aside (TASA) Funds to Greene County to complete Phase 2 of the Waynesburg Commons Multimodal Improvement Project. Phase 2 of this project includes sidewalk and pedestrian safety improvements near Commons Park, a hub for residents and students of Waynesburg University. Delta assisted Greene County in prioritizing and phasing the project in order to effectively fund and execute the improvements.
This project is a wonderful example of multiple agencies working together with Greene County to improve safety and encourage active transportation.
- The catalyst for this project was the Greene County Waynesburg Borough Active Transportation Plan (ATP) which identified the Project as a vital component to improve active transportation in Waynesburg Borough . The ATP was funded by a 2019 Pennsylvania Department of health WalkWorks Grant.
- Phase 1 of the project was funded through a Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) award.
- Phase 2 of the project will be funded by this new TASA award.
