LETTERS OF SUPPORT
" By reconstructing its aging, central transit hub, Federal Station, to better serve Youngstown residents, WRTA hopes to accommodate more and newer buses, including zero-emission vehicles. Additionally the LIFT project is designed to coincide with existing efforts to transform the City of Youngstown's Market Street Corridor by equitably improving transit, pedestrian, and bike facilities. In addition to seeking federal funds to support this project, WRTA plans to leverage additional sources of public funding and private investment."
The Honorable Sherrod Brown - United States Senator Full Letter
"This Project inherently contributes to equity by improving transit, pedestrian, and bike facilities
used primarily by lower-income and minority citizens at WRTA's Federal Station. It takes
advantage of public investment in transit to attract private investment that benefits neighborhoods
and drives smart and sustainable growth. All emphasis of this TOD Project is to ultimately
empower communities to become dynamic places where people live, work, and play."
Jamael Tito Brown - Mayor, City of Youngstown Full Letter
"I wholeheartedly support WRTA and their efforts to obtain a RAISE grant. I strongly encourage the Department of Transportation to invest in Youngstown, the Mahoning Valley, and the state of Ohio."
Thomas Hetrick - President of Youngstown City Council Full Letter
"This project will aid in existing revitalization efforts that seek to transform the City of Youngstown's Market Street Corridor into a vibrant, walkable, mixed-use community and aligns transit investments with the region's vision for growth and economic development."
Aimee Ffarek - Director and CEO The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Full Letter
