Hale Building
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia (Preservation Alliance) asked Delta to provide expert consultation on whether or not the developer’s proposed design for the Hale Building would meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation (Standards). The Philadelphia Historical Commission was to review the proposed design at its upcoming meeting, and the Preservation Alliance was to provide testimony on the inappropriateness of the design. The letter critiquing the design had to be sent to the Preservation Alliance within 48 hours of when Delta received this task.
Delta responded immediately to the Preservation Alliance’s request. Delta’s staff was familiar with the building and had expert knowledge of the Standards. Delta analyzed the proposed design for the building’s storefront and second floor and determined which of the rehabilitation items would not meet the Standards.
Working with the Executive Director, Delta’s staff was able to respond to the Preservation Alliance’s immediate need within 26 hours. Delta also provided additional information on what was needed for follow-up should the Philadelphia Historical Commission not rule on the Preservation Alliance’s behalf.
