The State Workers’ Insurance Fund (SWIF) provides workers’ compensation insurance to employers within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. SWIF is converting its legacy systems, which maintain policy and claims information, to a new client server system, as well as implementing an electronic document management system. The document management system allows SWIF to digitally scan and store all of its business documents.
Delta helped SWIF to identify the needs of each functional user group: which documents are needed, when the documents are needed, actions the user must take relative to the documents, and others who need the information contained in those documents. Through a series of in-depth, interactive, and hands-on facilitated sessions, Delta worked closely with SWIF personnel to identify these criteria and business rules, as well as to define and document the workflows involved in each process. The result was a comprehensive series of workflow documents that provided a detailed description of the work processes in narrative and graphic formats.
Delta then led SWIF through the successful implementation of document workflow. The process was helpful to streamline and increase the efficiency of SWIF.
