The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (OHSP) sought to increase its knowledge and understanding of the requirements of people with special needs before, during, and after an emergency. OHSP hired Delta to assist with this effort within a four-county planning area, including Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
The East Central Task Force (ECTF), which includes the Pennsylvania counties of Berks, Columbia, Luzerne, Montour, Northumberland, Schuylkill, and Wyoming, engaged Delta to assist with resource management and personnel credentialing. The ECTF wanted to inventory and track emergency management resources (e.g., organizations, facilities, personnel, and equipment) and personnel qualifications of first responders, volunteers, public safety workers, and public employees.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Program was introduced to assist states and communities in responding to public health emergencies, terrorist attacks, and natural disasters. The SNS Program ensures the availability of medicines, antidotes, medical supplies, and medical equipment necessary for states and communities to counter the effects of biological pathogens and chemical and nerve agents. As part of this program, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) was charged with developing a plan to receive the federal assets within 12 hours of a declared emergency and to quickly operationalize the deployment and dispensing of these medical counter-measures.
Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) has made significant investments over the past few years in its IT infrastructure to increase operational knowledge, vehicle tracking, and overall efficiency of the organization. Furthermore, EMTA is a major resource during emergency events, such as man-made and natural disasters.
The State Workers’ Insurance Fund (SWIF) provides workers’ compensation insurance to employers within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. SWIF is converting its legacy systems, which maintain policy and claims information, to a new client server system, as well as implementing an electronic document management system. The document management system allows SWIF to digitally scan and store all of its business documents.
The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), a public agency that provides low-cost financing of sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects throughout the Commonwealth, is in the process of developing a Nutrient Credit Trading (NCT) program to help meet Pennsylvania’s innovative Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy.
Region 9 is a council, set up by the State of West Virginia, comprised of representatives from Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties and the municipalities of Berkeley Springs (Bath), Bolivar, Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, Hedgesville, Martinsburg, Paw Paw, Ranson, and Shepherdstown. The council exists to assist local governments in resolving their common problems; engage in area-wide comprehensive and functional planning; identify, apply for, and administer certain federal and state grants; and provide a regional focus in regard to multiple programs undertaken on an area-wide basis. In an effort to improve information dissemination and communications, Region 9 engaged Delta to design and implement a new Web site for the region.
The State Broadband Data and Development (SBDD) Program allocated funding for state-level projects that would collect comprehensive and accurate broadband mapping data, develop state-level broadband maps, aid in the development and maintenance of a national broadband map, and fund statewide planning initiatives directed at broadband planning.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) was seeking a means through which businesses licensed to manufacture, transport, store, or sell alcohol beverage products could electronically submit required information to renew or validate their licenses for the next annual period. The PLCB desired a method and a system that would efficiently and easily collect detailed information about the customer’s business, as well as allow an electronic filer a safe and secure means to transmit payment information electronically without compromising the integrity of the data. In addition, this system would also reduce processing errors and the amount of time involved in handling a renewal or validating applications.
