As part of Project 2012, the Williamsport Hospital & Medical Center has developed a strategic energy plan to be implemented parallel with a hospital expansion project.

Butler Health System (BHS) is an independent, community-based healthcare system that has provided comprehensive care to the 189,000 residents of Butler County and seven surrounding counties since 1898. Butler Memorial Hospital is the system’s flagship facility, a 259-bed acute-care hospital on a 23-acre campus straddling the City of Butler and neighboring Butler Township.

Encompassing a four-block area adjacent to downtown Somerset, the hospital targeted over $25 million in capital improvements to the main facility and neighboring structures.

LHS’s network is anchored by Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital (SSMH), an 83-bed community hospital located in historic downtown Wellsboro and the only acute-care hospital in Tioga County. SSMH also operates the only emergency department (ED) within a 50-mile radius, providing emergency care for residents throughout the region.

Evangelical Community Hospital is a 127-bed, acute-care hospital located in Kelly Township, Union County, Pennsylvania. The hospital has continued to grow and expand to meet the changing needs of the Susquehanna Valley since 1926 and now includes a staff of nearly 200 physicians and 1,000 employees. The hospital is the third-largest employer in Union County.

Laurel Health System (LHS) is a nonprofit charitable organization providing a comprehensive range of services to the residents of Tioga County, Pennsylvania and surrounding communities. LHS’s network is anchored by Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital (SSMH), an 83-bed community hospital located in historic downtown Wellsboro and the only acute-care hospital in Tioga County. SSMH also operates the only emergency department (ED) within a 50-mile radius, providing emergency care for residents throughout the region. SSMH’s ED volume has grown steadily over the last 15 years and today far outpaces capacity - the current ED treats 15,000+ patients each year with only 9 patient bays. LHS recognized the critical need for a campus expansion at SSMH, and in 2009, received a $3 million grant through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). A challenging and time-consuming application development process is required before initiating successful drawdown on the award.

Southwest Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is a 69-bed acute-care hospital located in Greene County, Pennsylvania. As the County’s only hospital, SRMC provides critical services to residents in southwest Pennsylvania and employs more than 375 people throughout the region. In recent years, SRMC has identified the need for expansion and facility upgrades at the hospital in Franklin Township.

Charles Cole Memorial Hospital (CCMH) is a 501(c)(3), charitable, nonprofit healthcare organization located in Coudersport, Potter County, in north-central Pennsylvania. This rural facility, designated as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), serves 46,000 residents in its primary and secondary service areas, encompassing Potter, McKean, Tioga, and Cameron Counties in Pennsylvania and portions of New York’s southern tier. With 733 employees, CCMH is Potter County’s largest employer and a significant contributor to both the regional and statewide economies. CCMH is contending with limitations to its existing surgical suite due to its outdated configuration, lack of adequate support space, and projected increase in patient volumes in the operating rooms (ORs) over the next six years.

(EMHS) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit charitable organization that operates a 21-bed acute-care, Critical Access Hospital (CAH) in the Borough of Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. EMHS is the primary healthcare provider to more than 32,000 residents in the rural northeastern portion of the state, and has a service area encompassing Susquehanna and parts of Wyoming Counties.

With both inpatient and outpatient services and operating from multiple locations in the Charleston area, Highland Hospital recognized the need to update its existing emergency operations plan and enhance its emergency preparedness program and training to meet newly evolving Joint Commission standards for healthcare facilities as well as further its commitment to providing a safe environment for its visitors and clients.
