GOVERNMENT RELATIONS


As Director of Government Relations, Mark Carmel is based in Delta’s Washington, D.C. office, focusing on federal appropriations and other federal funding opportunities applicable to Delta’s clients and projects.  He monitors legislation and Congressional   Committee action and works with members of Congress and their staff to secure project funding.  Mark brings extensive federal experience to Delta Development Group through more than 10 years of prior service in Washington, D.C. for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter.     

 

During his tenure with Senator Specter, Mark served as a Senior Legislative Assistant and handled transportation, labor, governmental affairs, and water resources issues.  Having worked extensively with the Senate Appropriations Committee, Mark was instrumental in securing federal funding for Pennsylvania airports, transit systems, roads, and waterway infrastructure.    

 

Mark was also responsible for transportation and labor policy matters in Senator Specter’s office, and has interacted extensively with numerous federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Homeland Security, and the Appalachian Regional Commission.  He has organized several U.S. Senate hearings and helped draft a number of legislative provisions that have subsequently become public law.  

 

Mark graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social sciences with a concentration in human resource management.
