PRINCIPAL

John Mizerak serves as a Principal in Delta’s Community and Economic Development Planning division.

Formerly, John was a policy manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. In this capacity, he managed the Department's Land Use Planning and Technical Assistance Program, which provides funding to municipalities and counties for the preparation of planning and economic development documents. He also managed the implementation of the Commonwealth's newly created Transit Revitalization Investment District program, worked with various state agencies to develop funding strategies for planning-related projects, and developed policy and analyzed legislation related to municipal government and planning in Pennsylvania.

John managed numerous projects and initiatives, such as the inaugural 2005 State Land Use and Growth Management Report and the Commonwealth's land use planning training program for municipal officials. He also worked with representatives from the Pennsylvania Departments of Transportation, Environmental Protection, Conservation and Natural Resources, and Agriculture to integrate transportation, land use, economic development, and natural resource conservation.  This initiative involved the development of a State Action Plan for the integration of these major policy areas and subsequent regional conferences and action plans.  John was also involved with numerous boards and committees, including the Transportation Impact Fee Committee, the Pennsylvania State Planning Board, the Interagency Team on Land Use, the Statewide Water Resources Committee, and the Geospatial Technical Advisory Committee.

John has also worked in the Community Development Office of one of the fastest growing municipal governments in south-central Pennsylvania, where he reviewed subdivision and land development plans, administered the zoning and subdivision and land development ordinances, processed zoning hearing board applications, and assisted in the update of the Township's comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance.

John holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in public administration from Shippensburg University.
