Prior to joining the firm, Jen worked for the City of Reading, a multicultural community of 80,000+ residents. During the late 1990s, the city experienced significant growing pains, exemplified by an aging housing stock and a declining tax base. The City took proactive measures to strengthen Reading's at-risk neighborhoods, and the planning department was an integral part of this effort. As a member of the planning staff, Jen had the opportunity to conduct property condition surveys, organize citizen outreach programs, facilitate public meetings, and participate in a wide variety of special projects, including the urban renewal plan for Buttonwood Gateway, a high-profile brownfield site.
Jen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography from the University of Delaware. During her tenure at the University, Jen pursued graduate-level coursework and participated in the Science and Engineering Scholars program. After graduating magna cum laude, Jen was awarded a teaching assistantship with the Geography Department at Penn State University, where she earned a master's degree. Upon graduation, she went on to hold professional planning positions in both the public and private sectors.
Jen continues seeking opportunities that strengthen her skills in economic development and community planning and is actively involved with the following organizations: Pennsylvania Planning Association, Pennsylvania Economic Development Association, and International Economic Development Council.
